Halloween Monsters
Not Angels

by The Hippy Coyote

It saddens me to walk down the streets of Salt Lake City and see bloodied corpses, mangled limbs, grotesque monsters, and evil spirits in so many windows and doorways. These personifications of evil and violence are the expressions of my neighbor's hearts and souls. Not an angel or a saint is portrayed in any Halloween celebrant's yard.

Such a dark world we live in when these demonic forces are the only spirits revered and celebrated on Halloween.

Halloween comes from the word "hallowed." This refers to things sacred and worshiped. This pagan celebration of the spiritual world has been transformed over the centuries into Halloween.

Yet, if we are to imagine spirits walking the earth, why do we only imagine evil spirits?

ANSWER: Because too many people harbor evil spirits. Look at the successful market there is of slasher/demon/murder movies. People enjoy these activities in their hearts because their souls are not strong enough to suppress it or redirect these animal instincts into more evolved characters.

It is just as evil to watch someone be murdered and butchered as it is to actually wield the knife.

If spirits do walk the earth on Halloween, decide which kind of spirits you'd like to invite into your home:

1. murderer or rapist

2. devilish monster

3. war hero

4. artist or musician

5. saint

6. famous writer

7. Indian Chief

8. Significant Ancestor
