Abandoned Where I Stood

Abandoned Where I Stood
by The Hippy Coyote
August 7, 2013

Love has ruined my life
For all the passion -- all the caring
I'd always hoped it would be the future we'd be sharing

Love was supposed to balance my strife
A respite, sanctuary to have peace
We were supposed to enjoy and reduce the lease

Where Love was to create a wife
To be my teammate, partner and back-up
Like a business -- be successful -- not crack-up

With a child to enlarge our life
Provide our common purpose to succeed
Inspiring us to reap enough to raise and feed

With the overflowing bounty of our strife
Blessed with the opportunity to improve the world
As we protect and shield from the chaos that's hurled

At all persons -- I'd protect my children and wife
Giving all that I have to make my family good
Never expecting to be left alone -- abandoned where I stood
