It seems The Coyote was too wild
for a recent performance at The Zephyr Club in Salt Lake City.
The promoters complimented his
"pyrotechnic vocals" and "aggressive guitar work" but explained
that the Coyote doesn't fit in with the other acoustic musicians from Salt Lake
City.
As Megan Peters announced to the
audience at the completion of Coyote's show, "The Coyote, a man who dares
to be different!"
Unfortunately, "different"
appears to be a handicap in Utah. They won't book him on acoustic night anymore. And this is no dare, (see my website, dickyDARE.com about 'dares.'), this is just Coyote being Coyote.
Perhaps Coyote's closing song
"White Market" about the billions of dollars going into government
employee pockets because of the current drug war, ruffled some feathers. Coyote
dedicated it to President George Bush who had waved at Coyote an hour earlier
in downtown Salt Lake, on visit to one of his strongest, most conservative states, Utah.
George Bush was in town to campaign
at The Armory the next day. Hopefully George's campaign of anti-unionism and
CIA dominated government is more profitable than the Utah Coyote Campaign. In
five performances, The Coyote has earned a total of $104.
